SENIOR DESIGNER, UCSF Public Affairs Department, January 2007–July 2009

Led print and web projects from initial client contact through launch. Designed sites for the Department of Neurological Surgery, the Strategic Planning Board, and other campus departments. Designed and produced 4-color, multi-page newsletters for UCSF Medical Center and the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Supported art director in branding initiatives. Managed freelance designers and developers.

EDITOR, What Is Vidding? documentary for MIT's Project New Media Literacies, December 2007–August 2008

Developed content topics for this 20-minute documentary aimed at middle- and high-school students, edited all documentary segments, selected music videos for inclusion, designed and created all motion graphics.

CURATOR, 24/7 DIY Video Summit, February 2007–February 2008

Evaluated, analyzed, and selected videos for presentation at the Summit's screenings. Worked with other members of the curatorial team to develop themes and structure of event. Liaised with video-making community to encourage and support participation in the event.

EDITOR, Homegrown: DIY Grocery, March 2007–November 2007

Edited a 30-minute documentary film about local foodways, directed by activist filmmaker Richard Hildreth. The film is currently being shopped to festivals.

WEB/UI DESIGNER, Mother Jones, February 2000–September 2006

Created new site architecture, page layout, color system, and typographic system for 2001 and 2006 redesigns. Designed the interface for the 30th Anniversary DVD, a sortable, searchable collection of all Mother Jones magazine issues. Designed and produced numerous special reports and Flash mini-sites, created the brand and online presence for Mother Jones Radio, and managed online communities. As project manager for the redesigns and implementation of the content management system, was responsible for maintaining budgets and deadlines and coordinating small teams.

IDENTITY AND WEB DESIGN, VIDEO EDITING, Ocean Voyager, January–May 2006

Distilled a huge volume of dense, complex information into a user-friendly, engaging web site about the plight of the world's oceans. Working with two teams of stakeholders, designed the logo and web site to attract a broad base of users by appealing to their sense of adventure. Edited the introductory and orca videos used on the site, and prepared them for the web as Flash video files.

DESIGN AND PRODUCTION, On24.com, February 2000

Designed and produced a series of Flash ads, incorporating animated text, graphics, and audio, promoting both On24 itself and its clients.

WEB DESIGNER/PRODUCER, Prudential California Realty, May 1997–March 1999

Solely responsible for graphics and HTML production of 300+ page web site. Assured compliance with corporate style guide, designed and implemented structural and navigational improvements, and coordinated with vendors, contractors, sales agents, and the Marketing Department. Developed the company intranet and databases and designed Powerpoint presentations, brochures, and fliers. Provided technical support to agents.

PARTNER/DESIGNER, Human Design, October 1996–December 1999

One of three principals in a small company specializing in design and production of small businesses' web sites. Collaborated on the development of project style and content, designed multimedia projects, and produced graphics and code for the web. As a partner in the company, responsible for organization development, management, and marketing.
